About the Food Services Program
Philadelphia E&T Charter High School is committed to providing healthy meals for all of our students in our brand-new cafeteria.
Philadelphia E&T Charter High School serves Breakfast, Lunch and After School Snacks to students 100% Free of Charge to All Students as part of the Community Eligibility Provision or CEP.
CEP is a non-pricing meal service
option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows
the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast
and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting
household applications. Instead, schools that adopt CEP are reimbursed
using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically
eligible for free meals based on their participation in other specific
means-tested programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). For the 2023-2024 School Year, Philadelphia E&T has 95% of students qualifying for Free or Reduced Lunch.
For the 2025-2026 School Year, Philadelphia E&T Charter High School has contracted with Whitsons Culinary Group. to serve as our Food Service Management Company.

Offer VS Serve
The USDA is committed to providing students with balanced meals. Food Services staff educate high school students in selecting a reimbursable
lunch under Offer versus Serve. Teachers and school food service
professionals will find it helps students more quickly select the foods
in the lunch line that make up a reimbursable meal.
A la Carte Items
A la carte items are sold at cost for students following the SMART SNACKS requirements as part of the food services program. At this time, cash is the only accepted form of payment for a la carte items.
School Wellness Policy
The School Wellness Policy is developed by a team of school stakeholders every three years, including school parents/guardians and students. The Wellness Policy can be found HERE.
This policy was most recently revised in October 2023.
