FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS (FID)

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved Philadelphia Electrical & Technology's Flexible Instructional Day Plan, otherwise known as FID. You can view the approved plan HERE.

OVERVIEW
Flexible Instructional Days are designed to support student learning at home, in the event that the school needs to close for an unexpected reason. The decision to utilize a FID will be made by 5:30AM if not earlier.
If the school can anticipate that a Flexible Instructional Day may be needed prior to the day being declared, such as when the school needs to be closed for cleaning or renovation, administrators and teachers may provide students with an offline version of the learning activities prior to the Flexible Instructional Day.
These primary websites are needed for a FID:

www.petchs.org
petchs.schoology.com
www.zoom.us

All students at Philadelphia E&T have computing devices provided by the school that allow them to access the school’s electronic lesson system, Schoology, and all have access to the Internet. If a student does not have access to the internet at home, they should notify [email protected].

NOTIFICATION
Upon deciding that Philadelphia Electrical and Technology Charter High School will implement a Flexible Instructional Day, all Philadelphia E&T students, parents, and staff members will be notified of the decision to utilize a Flexible Instructional Day and the Bell Schedule for the day, through the school’s emergency notification systems of phone, text message and email, and an Update on the school’s website, Social Media pages/accounts (Facebook/IG).

SYNCHRONOUS OR ASYNCHRONOUS
One-day implementation of an FID will be conducted Asynchronously (Students will not meet with a teacher via ZOOM). If more than one FID will be utilized consecutively (in a row), students will receive direct instruction via ZOOM at each class period.
