An Overview

Philadelphia E&T is committed to the continuity of education for all of our students during this unprecedented set of circumstances related to the COVID-19 public health crisis. Effective, April 1, 2020, Philadelphia E&T will begin our remote learning program for the duration of the school closure.

Please note: These plans are subject to change based on further guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, Pennsylvania Department of Education or School District of Philadelphia.

As part of our 1:1 Chromebook/iPad Program, every student in our school is assigned his/her own device. Through the inception of this program, every teacher in our school uses Schoology as a school-wide Learning Management System in our typical program, students should already be enrolled in their teachers’ Schoology courses . Our remote learning plan builds upon the infrastructure we already have in place. To participate in our online learning plan, students will need internet at home or access to a personal device that has internet access. Students whose device was left in school should coordinate with the teacher who calls to arrange a pick up or delivery of school device. If you are unable to participate in our online learning plan, students can participate in our offline program by leaving a message at the school.

Free Internet during the COVID-19 Crisis

Students who do not have internet at home can apply for free internet through Comcast’s Internet Essentials Program by visiting www.internetessentials.com or by calling 1-855-INTERNET (1-855-8376). If you are unable to get internet at home or have other barriers preventing your online participation in remote learning, you can participate in our offline remote learning plan, which includes paper materials for you to receive from your preferred choice, pick-up or delivery.

Communication with Students and Families

During the week of March 24, 2020-March 27, 2020, teachers will make phone/email/text contact with each student’s family. This contact will be made in an attempt to speak to a student/parent/guardian to determine how the student will be participating in remote learning.

Special Education Teachers will call their caseloads to communicate with families regarding methods of support, IEP meeting dates, re-evaluations, waivers. The Special Education Department will make IEP or NOREP revisions as appropriate.

School homeless liaison will make every effort to contact students who are already known to be homeless.

There are multiple ways we communicate with families: Our website www.petchs.org, USPS, social media accounts, email/text/phone blasts, personal phone/email contact, remind text messaging, and school email accounts/phone hotline/main school phone number.

Please be sure that you are eating each day. If you need food, you can get multiple Grab and Go meals for the week at one of the school district sites near you on  Thursday mornings between 9AM-12PM.  The list is updated regularly, you can find by dialing 311 or visiting the site:
